Two months ago, the students of the Master of Science in International Business (MScIB) had the opportunity to learn more about the Port de Barcelona strategy at a conference of its Deputy Director, Santiago Garcia-Milà, at ESCI-UPF.
As Garcia-Milà explained, the strategic plan focuses on innovation, digitalization, and environmental preservation. Port de Barcelona also aims to develop strong links with the Mediterranean region, promoting cooperation in trade, logistics, and sustainability initiatives and actively participating in international networks to share best practices and contribute to developing a sustainable global maritime industry.
In a related development, the MScIB students enjoyed a boat trip to the Port of Barcelona installations and facilities yesterday. This first-hand experience allowed them to witness the port’s significance as one of Europe’s most important logistics hubs while gaining insights into the innovative and sustainable practices being employed.
Students could better understand the challenges and opportunities in the global shipping and logistics sector by visiting the port’s facilities while fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The visit also demonstrated the port’s commitment to shaping the maritime industry’s future through sustainable growth and collaboration.
Furthermore, observing the port’s commitment to collaboration with regional and international partners helped the MScIB students to grasp the importance of building strong networks in today’s interconnected business environment. Overall, this experience contributed to their academic and professional development by bridging the gap between theory and practice, ultimately better preparing them for successful careers in international business.
