El 17 de desembre va tenir lloc la VII Jornada de Bioinformàtica i Genòmica, organitzada per la Secció de Bioinformàtica i Genòmica de la Societat Catalana de Biologia (SCB) i Bioinformatics Barcelona i que va comptar amb més de 230 participants entre ponents i públic assistent.
La jornada es va desenvolupar en quatre sessions on es van tractar temes de recerca bàsica i translacional, és a dir, aquella que busca reduir la distància entre els resultats obtinguts al laboratori i la seva aplicació pràctica, de totes dues disciplines. Es van celebrar més de 50 comunicacions científiques i en les conferències plenàries hi van participar ponents convidats de les universitats de Vigo, Basilea i Milà.
Per últim, es va portar a terme l’entrega de premis. El guardó a la millor conferència va recaure sobre Silvia Galan, del Centre Nacional d’Anàlisi Genòmica-CRG, pel treball Definition of “structural alphabets” for determining the relationship between structural patterns and genomic features; mentre que el premi al millor pòster va ser per a Miquel Àngel Schikora, del BSC i l’IRBB, pel treball «The mechanisms of drug resistance in the emergent pathogen Candida glabrata».

On September 5th, the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) hosted the final meeting of the CICEP Project – Circular Economy Action in Island Regions through the Valorization of Plastic and Agricultural Waste, with the participation of the University of Girona (UdG) and the UNESCO Chair in Life Cycle and Climate Change ESCI-UPF.
